Why does only one room in our house squeak?

Usually because of what that room is above and how much it gets walked on. Rooms over an unheated or damp space see more moisture variation in the framing below them, and hallways and landings take far more concentrated foot traffic than a bedroom does. It can also simply be that the loudest squeak masks the quieter ones elsewhere in the house.
