Repair only, never installation Ontario-wide Free written quotes

About Squeaky Floor

Squeaky Floor is a repair-only crew working across Ontario on one narrow problem: floors and stairs that make noise, and the subfloor connections underneath that cause it.

We do not install flooring, which is the most useful thing to know about us.

Our scope

What we do, and what we deliberately do not

We repair squeaky floors, squeaky stairs and the subfloor connections that cause both, plus the adjacent flooring repairs that come up alongside them: damaged hardwood boards, separated laminate seams, water-affected flooring and subfloor, loose tile, and the particular problems that come with flooring over a basement slab. What we do not do is install new flooring, sand and refinish, or sell carpet. That is a deliberate limit rather than a gap. The most common complaint people have about getting a flooring quote is being told the floor needs replacing when it needs a repair, and the reason that happens is that the person quoting makes their money on the replacement. We do not, so we have nothing to gain from telling you that. If your floor genuinely is past repair, we will say so and you can take that to an installer.

How we work

Diagnose before quoting

A price given before anyone has established what is actually moving is a guess with a number attached. The diagnostic visit is free and carries no obligation.

Everything in writing

Scope and price, before any work starts. If we find something bigger once we are into a job, work stops and you get a revised quote rather than a larger invoice.

Tidy in occupied homes

Almost all of this work happens in houses people are living in. Areas get covered, dust gets contained, and the room gets left the way we found it.

What we will tell you honestly

When it is not worth fixing

Some noises are harmless and some floors are near the end of their service life. We will say so.

When it might be a warranty claim

If your home is new enough that Ontario's new home warranty may cover the squeak, we will point you there before quoting.

When you could do it yourself

If you have open basement access and a single, clearly located squeak, we will tell you that is a reasonable afternoon job.

When we cannot promise a result

Where a squeak traces to settlement or a structural condition, a fastener will not fix it and we will not pretend otherwise.

What we do not claim

No credentials we have not stated

We do not list licensing, insurance, association memberships or years in business anywhere on this site, because we would rather say nothing than say something unverified.

No reviews we did not receive

The reviews on this site are real feedback from customers. There are five of them and they rotate across pages. We have not padded that number.

No rate card dressed up as one

Our published price ranges are compiled from published Ontario cost data so you can budget. They are explicitly not a confirmed rate card, and we say so every time we show them.

What homeowners tell us

Real feedback from customers we have worked with.

5/5

We hired them to fix squeaking and movement in our hardwood floor. They identified the underlying problem quickly and completed the repair without needing to replace the entire floor. Everything now feels solid and quiet.

5/5

They repaired deep scratches and chipped areas in our hardwood flooring. The available repair options were explained clearly and the results were excellent. The floor looks refreshed, and the damaged spots are no longer noticeable.

Amanda

Direct Client

5/5

They repaired several damaged hardwood boards in our living room and blended the replacements beautifully with the existing floor. The team was punctual, tidy, and careful throughout the job. You can barely tell where the damage was.

About us

How long have you been doing this?

We have not put a number on that anywhere on this site, and we would rather not until we can state one accurately. What we can tell you is what the work involves, what it costs, and what we will and will not do, all of which is set out across these pages in more detail than most people want.

Are you insured?

Ask us directly and we will give you a straight answer for your specific job. We have deliberately not made blanket claims about licensing, insurance or association membership on this site, because those are exactly the claims that are easiest to make and hardest for a homeowner to verify.

Do you work in rental properties and condominiums?

Yes to both, with the usual caveats. In a rental, the person instructing us needs the authority to do so and tenants need proper notice. In a condominium, your building will have its own rules on contractor access and on what counts as unit property rather than common element, and we work within those.

Why is the site so focused on squeaks specifically?

Because it is a narrow, genuinely under-served problem. Most flooring companies treat squeak repair as a small side item next to installation, so the advice available to homeowners is thin and often wrong. Narrowing to it means we see the same causes repeatedly, which makes us faster and more accurate at diagnosing them.
